Sorry, I'm just not the family type. At least not with my family. Only a few more hours, and I can leave tomorrow evening. Christmas just grows more blah to me each year around here... and I just grow more distant from my COMPLETELY nonbiological family. Sigh. And I couldn't bring World of Warcraft with me... being as its an online game, I'd need to have a good high-speed connection for that to work. Thankfully, I had no prior knowledge of my parents finally getting said connection, so WoW stayed at home. Plus, it woulda taken forever to install the thing and download 2 years worth of patches for the meager 4-ish days I'm here. Good news, though, I have been distracting myself off and on by starting work on a brass quintet piece that I intend on submitting in a competition that has the National Symphony reading the works. Woot to Dr. Ross for getting that gig set up. (For those of you who don't know, the National Symphony is touring Kansas in 2007, and apparently Pittsburg managed to be one of the stops. Hence, Ross is putting together a composition competition to coincide with their visit, and they will be the judging/reading group.) And as for the piece... I think it's going to kick arse. Also, non-Asian upstairs neighbors are jackasses. Period. Umm... I have SO much score editing to do when I go home. Is it strange that I feel almost excited about such a project? Meh... Can't wait until Billy comes back... God I miss him. Happy <insert holiday>! |
